I am a GS12 step 3 with 6 weeks left step up to 4. During my appraisal my supervisor asked which one I prefer; a monetary bonus or a step increase. Here is the twist... I am currently applying for several GS13 positions, would it make sense to take the cash since moving up to 13 won't matter.
