Making Dairy Yogurt With Heavy Cream

I normally use whole milk (plus starter of course) when I make yogurt but I also like to experiment. In the past I've tried using 1 cup of half-n-half plus 3 cups milk for each quart of yogurt but didn't think it tasted much different.

My supermarket recently had a sale on heavy cream and I couldn't resist buying some.

I used 1 cup heavy cream plus 3 cups whole milk for each quart but made no changes to my method or the amount of starter. I've made this yogurt twice now and WOW what a difference!

This yogurt is somewhat thicker than usual and tastes so rich and creamy I feel quite decadent eating it. I can't guarantee you'll like it as much as I do but if you make yogurt regularly I think you should give it a try.
