When writers say they don't read a lot

They don't actually mean it right? That said, I wonder how people got to the point when they say "I don't read a lot".

EDIT: thanks for the comments. The perspectives are valuable. Hmmm, at the end, i hope that people who WANT to read, but are too busy to do so, will finally get the opportunity to read to their hearts' content. As for the sarcastic remarks, thanks for the laughs. 😆
