¿What do travellers eat between destinations in your world?

Recently i've been trying to wrap my head around how people traversed across massive stretches of (unpopulated) land, living off of only what they could find and bring. I'm not a history guy, so i've really had to scour wikipedia for loose bits of information on what people had a few centuries ago before our alphabetically-organized supermarkets and manufactured materials, haha! But more than any of that, i think i focus the most on what crops are endemic to which enviorments, and try to imagine what travellers in different parts of my world would end up bringing with them on their adventures.

Anyway, while i learn about optimal seasonal conditions for various cereal crops, i figured i'd bring this idea up on here. Maybe someone with a similar world to mine might've thought of something i hadn't yet, and maybe someone else went as far as making entire catalogues of custom plant and animal species that's used as food sources in their world(s)...
