"sentient" giant spiders?

Salutations friends! My apologies if I am getting annoying but I do like worldbuilding lol...

Anyway, today's topic is the title. I am interested in making a colony of "sentient" spiders the size of let's say German shephards. I am interested to hear your opinions and ideas about this topic. Also I'm divided between making them a hive mind or just lower intelligence sentient creatures. There will be a nest of them in the Ida Tatna forest where wolfmen form my previous posts live but there is also a place much further south where I am planning to make an endless war between hive mind spiders and hive mind ants so I think that I will have to go with them being a hive mind unless I scrap that idea.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any hive minds in your world that you would like to share? I would love to learn!
