House Velet is a noble family in the Haroldric Empire. Their seat and primary fief is the city of Obensburg in the Province of Orandia. They rule from the keep, the Bloodhold. Their vassals include House Gavowey of Breezton, House Tempest of Bleak Harbor and House Kime of Castle Kimelodge.
House Velet was founded during the Middle Eras, over a thousand years ago. They are descendants of the ancient family of Velether. House Velether stretched back to the dawn of The Age of Flesh, some five thousand years ago. Their line was rumored to by a vampyr dynasty. Tales were told of Velether Counts stealing children from villages under the shade of night. King Fathway renamed House Velether into Velet during his failed rebellion against the Kingdom of Thorn (ancient Orandia).
Sir Jasper Velet, the Black Gryffon, also called the Bloodknight, is an antagonist in my story. He’s one of the most proficient swordsman in the current Empire, rivaling even the most elite of the Emperor’s personal guard. He was trained by the Sword-Singers of the Ebony Isles. His style of fencing is far too unpredictable and quick for the majority of the landed knights of the four provinces. He is known for his sadistic tastes, his keenness for brutality, and his unquenchable bloodlust. He is the forsaken eldest son of Count Ellaistar Velet, who stripped Jasper of his titles and birthright during his youth.
