Childcare has failed me in so many ways.

My baby is 15 months old.

At 3 months we started having a nanny in the house and she was wonderful with him, but called out 50% of the time due to being sick, personal emergencies, etc. We respectfully demoted her to occasional babysitter.

Nanny #2 brought her own toddler with her and therefore didn’t give my baby the attention he needed. She also called out about 30% of the time due to her toddler being sick.

Then we got a call that a daycare spot opened up less than 10 minutes from our house. We figured my LO was 14 months old and ready. At first I loved the reliability, but then the biting happened in week 3. Three days in a row, clear dental implants with dark bruising on his arm, his leg and now his FACE. I asked the daycare director if they had any plans to minimize these biting instances, and she said they’re too young and there’s nothing they can do to prevent it. They also don’t suspend or expel kids under age 2 for biting. Now I feel my child is abused and I’m ready to pull him out due to lack of empathy and my child being black and bruised from head to toe.

AM I DOOMED TO BE A STAY AT HOME MOM. I can’t handle the mental health issues and stress with having an unreliable nanny NOR a daycare where my child is unsafe. If I switch Nannies or daycares I fear I’ll face the same issues, but I feel like I’ve exhausted the pool of local Nannies and daycare spots are scarce. Any suggestions?

EDIT: THANK YOU to the lovely working moms who gave me helpful advice. I am going to change up my search strategy for a nanny. I just don’t think I’m cut out for daycare life but I think it’s amazing for all the families who have had positive experiences.
