Carbon Monoxide Detecters Going Off.

ALL APPROPRIATE SAFETY MEASURES WERE TAKEN

Now, that is out of the way.

we have three wood stoves in our 135m² home. we use two of them daily/nightly. the third is a kitchen cookstove. it is not used often and is not part of this story/issue.

new construction house 2023. "airtight" Zipboard & Tape OSB. no central fans. we have lived here since June 2023. this is a first-time issue.

the occurrence:

aboot 3 days ago, we had a ceiling mounted "1st Alert" combination smoke & CO detector go off, in the middle of the night. get up, reset detector & fan air in room, near detector. ceiling fans in all rooms rub 24/7. 30 min later alarm again. remove alarm from veiling, reset & move outside. alarm goes off again. assume faulty. take out battery. take a different alarm from another area of home to set on nightstand, finally get some sleep.

buy new 1st alert combo alarm. install next evening.

last night, midnight, alarm. multiple reset & alarms. open windows. reset. house is cold as fuxk but clear of CO. close windows. reset both CO alarms and set on dresser and one on ceiling. get some sleep

1) There is not much wind, but it was coming from SW. Morsø 1410 (bedroom) chimney is on SW corner of hoose. chimney extends 90cm above roof, near-ish eave at SW corner of home.

2) two stoves burning. this has been standard for two winters. Defender in Great Room. Morsø in Master.

3) we have two "fart fan" vents, one each bathroom (not running). an externally vented microwave, an externally vented range hood & an externally vented clothing dryer. none of these vents were running I list them because they are paths for our home to passively pull "make-up air" in through. we have, however, used all of them at various times, daily, with no issues, for 1.5 winter seasons, at this house. Finally, despite airtight 2023 construction, we have some audible leaks at some windows, and a visible light-allowing leak at our back door... again, to say, we are getting make-up air.

4) the stoves are our only appliance that burn anything during the night. no pilots, no furnace, no water heater. the only other fire in our home is our Propane oven/range and it was not in use at midnight.

we are ordering a CO meter to verify actual levels.

WTF??
