How do you feel about the women in tech movement?

I started university in the mid 2010s. I distinctly remember a huge push to encourage women to major in technical degrees to fix underrepresentation in the workforce. Do you feel like this movement was perhaps simplistic in that it did not warn of problems women experience in the tech work force? Do you feel misled because of it?
