Mazda as reliable as Toyota?

Budget is around 15-20k so looking at 2008-2015 Toyota highlanders and 2014-2019 Mazda Cx-9’s. I can get a Mazda that is 3-5 years newer with 50k less miles for a similar price. Just wondering if there is a big difference in maintenance costs and reliability. Thanks.
