Advice needed. Am I doing the right thing to switch to Dev?

Hi everyone. I’m in need for some advice. I’ve been working as a DevOps Engineer for about 5 years now. I’ve done system analysis for another 5 before that. The reason why I moved on to DevOps was because I was given false hope and fell for the commercial of my employer. I was on my way to moving from Sys Analysis to Android Development because that was what I studied for. I was told by my current employer that I will be able to do development and will be able to sit with the developers and learn from them for experience but will work in DevOps. It’s been 5 years and I’ve never even met any of the developers face to face and only work with them if it’s Ops related. I want to get back into Developing but it’s been so long. I’m currently learning Kotlin but, I’m also 30 now and not sure if it’s worth it, or maybe just very despondent. Any advice please?
