I lasted Thirty days!

I'm at a crossroads I failed to do my due diligence in relocating. Now after looking at my budget and blowing through my savings and the new income coming in I have to face the reality that I can't afford to live in my new city. I'm in Charleston, SC and it's going through a stage of new development where affordable housing is few, and in between. I'm a newly hired GS-7 the apartment that I found before moving turned out too good to be true. So I buckled down and swapped between Airbnb and hotels while still looking for housing but I've hit the end of my rope my salary is decent but due to FERS deductions which are at the minimum allowed my net for one pay period doesn't cover a month rent and utilities and the dreaded amenity fees.

I've been hesitant to bring this to my new supervisor because I didn't want to let them down being a new hire and all but now I have no choice as my next pay will go to keeping me in a motel for maybe a week and a half. I enjoy the work but the cost of living vs federal employment benefits just don't equate.

I've tried every angle from roommates, to camping, to hostels nothing solves the problem and to add the grief I have to come up with security deposits and application fees. I feel like my only choice is to tender a resignation and try federal employment elsewhere later down the road after I go home and get back on my feet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
