Leave of Absence

I'm currently an international student in my first sem of my second year and am tired of having university online.  I'm considering applying for an internship that would run during sem 1 2022 and was wondering if I could take a leave of absence for this reason? For some extra info, I currently do not hold a student visa since I couldn't travel to Australia from the beginning of my course.
