Driving for Uber presents so many issues
I would never recommend driving for Uber to anyone. There are far too many issues with the driver app, gps app, customer service and low fare fees. Many inconsistencies in what you are getting paid for each fair and unless you are a gold or higher member there is no way to see what you will be making per fare or where exactly you will be taking a fare. Customer service consists of AI and a phone number that no longer provides support. You will then have to Google how to contact support with a valid support number.
Uber claims they take 25% of the fare as their share when in reality they take upwards of 60% on certain rides. I had a customer ask me what i was making for a rider as Uber charged her $101 during "surge" time after a concert. I made $49 of that $101 Uber charged her. Meanwhile, it is my time, my gas, and my vehicle maintenance taking place here. I find this to be a huge money grab and frankly a scam on Ubers part.
Then there are the unrealistic goals for perks that are set weekly that unless you are driving 12 hour days you can never obtain.
Oh did I mention the Uber acceptance rating? If you do not accept every single ride Uber offers you regardless of location, meaning some fares are 25 to 30 miles away from you and they expect you to accept that fare even when it means you drive to the fare for free, you then pick up said fare drive them 2 miles to their destination, get paid $3.78 for the trip and have to drive back 25 to 30 miles to your original location and IF you decline that offer because it does not make sense for you to travel 50 miles round trip to make less than $4, Uber will then penalize you and your account by taking a percentage off your acceptance rate putting you closer to a reduction in your Uber tier status and ability to be sent ride offers in the future.....
It really is a shit show of a job and not worth it in the short or long run.
Also, if the Uber driving app shows "surge" areas with a higher than average fee to fare for the driver, if you navigate to that area you NEVER get the fee they are advertising as a surge fee. If the app says +5.00 when you arrive and accept a fare it will be highly reduced to something like +1.50 for the fare. I feel it is a scam they use to keep you logged in and making them money.
Then I hear from customers all the time who take the same route to work daily that some days their charged fare is 3 or even 4 times their normal fee price for the same distance but the driver isn't aware of that unless they are told by the customer and the driver does not see an increase in their pay for that fare, it goes straight to Uber.
This companies transparency is terrible and shady. Don't driver for uber it's really not worth it.
