Vampires wearing earrings

I think this is probably something exclusive to the movie (I don't remember any descriptions of any vampire wearing them in the books). But I just rewatched New Moon and seeing Esme wearing earrings made me think about how impossible it would be for a vampire to wear earrings due to the impenetrability of their skin.

This also reminds me of the fact that the Cullens' baseball equipment has to be super resistant, in addition to their changing hairstyles, which is also impossible.

Have you noticed any other details along these lines? Which ones?
