Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025 feels old school, this is why it is successfull.

I believe many of us have fond memories of the golden age of racing games, that period which started in the late 90's and early 2000's with the first Gran turismo and Initial D, a time were Japanese developers went all out with Gran Turismo clones and original ips like TXR, and also the tuner culture with the first Fast and Furious movie and the release of Underground 1.

Tokyo Xtreme Race 2025 feels like it came straigh from that time, 20 years later with a modern paint job. Everything from this game, with the menus, the car list, the progression system, the music, the lack of any microtransactions whatsoever (i really hope the full game keeps that way )feels old school. And for many of us, which are tired of modern racing games, especially the ones who give to us millions of credits and wheelspins in a couple of hours with barely any progression. This game is pretty much what we asked, they kept the roots of the series preserved. I hope TXR 2025 starts a rennaisance on the racing genre, where developers revives old IPs and keep then faithfull.
