Gift ideas for 2 year old that doesn’t “play”

My nephew is turning 2 and unfortunately spends a lot of time with his iPad. He recognizes numbers and letters and loves counting. I know they take him outside for walks every so often or let him play with chalk which he likes but I don’t know how often they do that. When they’re in the house, he’s on his iPad for sure. Because the iPad is always on, you never see him play, color, stack, or look at books. If he does pick up a toy/book he usually throws it on the ground.

I don’t want to get into the parenting issue because trust me it’s been brought up A LOT and it’s to the point that we’re just getting no where. Also, it feels like the more we press the issue, the less we get to see my nephew :/

I said all of that to say, I want to get him a gift (or a basket of gifts) that he’ll like and are age appropriate.

Is there anything out there that has captivated your toddler enough to get them away from the iPad?
