Possibly moving to Texas

Hello, I've had the wish to move to Texas for a while now, so I'm wondering what's it like there at the moment and will I be welcomed as a European from Croatia. I heard a lot about Southern hospitality and it's my dream to live in a place where people are warm and friendly. I don't wanna live in a huge city, I'm aiming for a smaller town where there is a true sense of community, so I'd love to hear your recommendations. Thanks in advance!
