does this need retouching?

the lines themselves are good in my opinion, but i’m not sure how i feel about the way it’s shaded (not blaming my artist for that, i know that’s just what the reference looked like). some of the webs are also slightly disconnected, which i understand because it’s a small piece (about 2 inches), and the ends of the webs taper off in a weird way and i think i’d rather them be solid.

my artist generally does great work. he’s my boyfriend’s cousin so i like supporting him, and he’s VERY popular in my county and pretty well known in my state. i have two other small patchwork pieces done by him and they’re amazing (one has a tiny error but i’m the only one who would notice it).

am i thinking too hard about it or does this need touched up?
