Smallville: Does it bother you that Metropolis is in Kansas?

I just find it funny a big city with a big body of water is in Kansas and not on a coast somewhere. I know we have to suspend our disbelief with a lot of things in fiction, but this idea of Metropolis in Kansas always intrigued me.
