To Win, Democrats Must Do Identity Politics Smarter

The author's right that Trump leaned into idpol more so than Harris. But the last two sentences killed me: "Because people are their identities, we can’t run away from identity politics, because that would mean running away from Americans themselves. We just need to do it better."

People aren't their identities. People are…people, united by their common humanity. We may not appear united — just look at how ugly our politics have become — but we the 99% all share a common interest: economic security.
