Anyone else not breaking a theme!?

I love this game. My wife and I play a lot, we’ve purchased all the premade starters for each set. Well, I’ve bought a TOR booster box and some Shadows boosters. I’ve started making my own decks! Here’s the problem and I’m just seeing if there is anyone else…I just can’t throw random characters together! I look at people’s competitive decks and see Maul running with Stormtroopers, or Poe hanging out with Obi-Wan. It just feels wrong to me. Am I the only one that keeps things “on theme” with their decks?
