Everything with voyager (season 1)

Ill start off by saying that for me the pace of the show was way too fast. To be fair I haven’t seen past season 1 simply because I couldnt get through it. Up to that point the show had a feeling of ‘too many cooks in the kitchen’, like the writers were pumping in so much action it became frenetic and even hard to follow the story lines or understanding the motivations of characters in throwing themselves into dangerous situations without thinking. Because the crews situation and the plight of the ship was unpredictable and somewhat dire, i felt like up to that point the show was missing a kind of stable voice of reason character. Tuvok took on that role but they didnt give him enough air time.

The uncontrolled action made it feel like there was no build up of tension and conflict in the storyline. I think this affected the character development as well. Unlike TNG and DS9, voyager characters always seemed to be putting on a caricature or a spectacle and there was a lack introspective dialogue between them. I liked how they tried to give Neelix more humanity when he lost a lung but my god he was still annoying as hell.

Ive been told the show gets better in later seasons... Its a shame because I do like some of the characters like Tuvok, the doctor, kes and kim. Maybe I should skip to season 4 or grin and bear to continue...
