Does the holodeck have limitations in its ability to create the illusion of space?

I've searched the sub for relevant answers. Most revolved around the concept of holographic treadmills and visual screens.

As a thought experiment, I wondered what would happen if enough of the crew were to enter the room to fill the floor space with shoulder-to-shoulder people, then start a program involving a much larger holographic space and people freely moving around that space.
