Transitioning from Case Manager to Therapy Role
I am a MSW in the process of getting licensed after having graduated almost two years ago. Life happens- between the pandemic, getting pregnant during, and now have a good routine going with my toddler, I feel that I am finally ready to start studying for the exam. I currently work as a case manager for a company that provides support for neuroatypical children and adults, and have honestly lost my love for the job. While I specialized in Adult and Mental Health, all I know is case management.
On the flip side, while it is great to be licensed, almost every job that I look at is requiring years of experience as a therapist before they will hire you. I just want to get my foot in the door so that I can start doing something that I feel I would be great at. Case management is burning me out and am looking for a change. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.
