Galaxy A25 5G with 8 GB of RAM: First Impressions

PURCHASE AND DELIVERY: I paid R$1,156 (+/- US$200) for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. I ordered it on 12/27/2024 and received the device on 12/30/2024, although the expected delivery date was 01/09/2025.

DESIGN: I wasn't thrilled. It's basically the same as the Galaxy A24 (I had one in June 2023, and today it's with my mother), only with a different effect on the back. The screen with an Infinity-U notch doesn't bother me, but it could be Infinity-O.

SCREEN: With 40% brightness, it displays colors correctly. But with brightness close to 0%, you can see that the screen doesn't display the image 100% correctly, with small dark spots. It's noticeable with a grayish background. The 120 Hz screen should be adaptable.

PERFORMANCE: Nothing to complain about. The 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage work properly. The Exynos 1280 chipset also works properly, but at times, I felt a higher than normal heat on the right side of the cameras even in undemanding tasks.

BATTERY: Its main problem. It doesn't last 2 days without a power outlet, and it doesn't last 6 hours with the screen on at 120Hz. At 60 Hz, it lasted 7 hours. My brother's Galaxy M34 (which is basically the same Galaxy A25 with a larger battery and mono audio) has a longer battery life.

CHARGER: In my country, Samsung sends a 15W charger, which, under normal load, takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 20% to 100%.

CAMERAS: Nothing to complain about. The results obtained are the same or slightly better than those of the Galaxy A24. I liked the 8 MP ultrawide, but I wish the macro and depth lenses were 5 MP.

SOUND: I liked the stereo sound, but the maximum volume, although ok, could be higher.

FEATURES: I liked having a P2 connector for headphones, FM Radio, Bixby Vision and Screen Recorder. Smart View works well. It's a shame there's no official support for Good Lock (Fine Lock solved the problem, but updating the modules manually is annoying). I missed the voice command in the Camera (a feature available on the Galaxy A33 and A53, which have the same chipset).
