Sinching on a top - how?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anybody knows what the material gathering on some tops is called so I can research how to do it without thread showing. I’m trying to make the top attached and i have no idea how to do that little thread sinching thing in the middle of the top below the bow. I don’t want any thread to show but I’m clueless as to how to do it! Thank you in advance!
