Why wont my laptop let me select anything higher than 120Hz on an external monitor?

I have my external monitor connected via HDMI to my laptop. It's a KOORIU 25E3A. It should normaly be capable of 144Hz on HDMI and 180Hz on DisplayPort. If anyone can tell me why that is I'd be very grateful.
