Backplates seem popular… but, what about pockets?

The first thing that comes to mind is how excited a gal gets when she realizes her dress (or whatever) has pockets!! I’ve grown to like having a place to store stuff, go pro, backup light, whatever. I know an upside to BP is the streamline and simplicity… but I feel like I’m gonna have everything dangling on a retractor or clipped on a d-ring. Which seems less streamlined to me? Am I missing something? Side note.. haven’t gotten into more than a one tank per dive situation.. but don’t want to buy a vest BC and soon regret it. Or is it you own both and use the best for the particular dive? Almost exclusively dive warm water tropical when traveling.
