How do you people make friends?

gf just dumped me and I realized all my friends who are left in town are through her. I’m a shy, resting-bitch-face-baring, intimidating looking man and I don’t know how to meet people since I graduated college. Especially how do you approach people in public places without seeming creepy or desperate? Any advice for where/how to meet people naturally is appreciated.
