Fluted or Smooth bezel? I can’t decide…

I’m hoping to buy my first Rolex, a DateJust 36mm with the black dial. It’s simple, classy and can be worn for most occasions in my opinion. The only thing is, I don't want to be that guy in the room that screams "Look everyone, I've got a Rolex on!".

The question is - Does the fluted bezel look very "blingy" up close? Should I stick to the stainless steel finish rather than the white gold to minimise that?

Also, if I did go for the smooth finish, is it the opposite extreme and just looks very......boring?
