You need to hear about my future puppy!!!
Meet Bestie: The Puppy I Was Supposed to Get… and Will Finally Have Soon! 🐶✨
Hey Reddit,
I need to tell you all about a very special puppy—Bestie. A pup who was meant to be mine but, thanks to family drama and society’s obsession with “purebred vs. local,” was ripped away before I even had the chance to properly love him. But don’t worry—this isn’t just a sad story. It’s also about how I’m finally getting my dream dog this year.
So buckle up, dog lovers (or just people who enjoy a dramatic pet story). This is a rollercoaster.
The One That Got Away: My First Bestie 🐾
A few weeks ago, I met a tiny black stray puppy with yellow eyebrows and a white tummy. I named him Bestie (because let’s be real, he was my bestie). He was everything a dog should be—loyal, playful, and just pure-hearted.
The first time I saw him, he was just chilling, minding his own business, being adorable. But something about him just clicked. You know that feeling when you just know you and someone (or some dog) are meant to be? That was me and Bestie.
I started spending time with him, feeding him, playing with him, and in just one day, he went from being a quiet, sleepy pup to an excited, playful little bean. He was finally starting to come out of his shell, and I felt like the happiest person ever.
But life isn’t a Disney movie.
Turns out, society and my family didn’t exactly share my enthusiasm. They saw him as just a “local street dog” and didn’t think he was “good enough.” (Yeah, it pissed me off too.) Long story short: I had to say goodbye. And trust me, it hurt. I saw how sad he was when I left. He even pooped everywhere out of stress (which, honestly, same).
I tried to explain how special he was, but people only cared about the fact that he wasn’t a fancy breed. My mom, who initially felt sad, eventually got influenced by others and started saying, "He’s annoying and ugly." That part? That part broke me.
But I wasn’t going to give up on my dream of having a dog. If Bestie couldn’t be mine, then I’d make sure my next Bestie would be.
Bestie 2.0: The Comeback Pup 🐕
So here’s the plot twist. My family is finally okay with getting a dog. And not just any dog—a purebred German Shepherd puppy, straight from our village in Rajasthan.
And guess what? I’m naming him Bestie.
This puppy is basically my revenge arc against everyone who said my first Bestie wasn’t good enough. And the best part? He’s free. (Take that, expensive breeders.)
The mom dog, Ruby, is from my village, and she’s adorable. She’s expected to give birth in May or June 2025, which means I’ll finally get Bestie around June or July. (If I could time it to my birthday on July 22, that would be chef’s kiss perfect.)
But I already know how it’s gonna go down:
- Bestie is going to arrive at my house scared as hell. (Imagine being kidnapped from your peaceful village and suddenly thrown into city chaos.)
- He’s gonna hide under the furniture, refusing to come out, while my dad examines him and says, "Purebred. Nice. Not like those local ones." (I will roll my eyes.)
- There’s probably going to be some dramatic bonding moment at night where he finally trusts me and falls asleep next to me. And that’s when I’ll know—this time, he’s mine for real.
Why This Puppy Means So Much 🖤
Bestie isn’t just a dog. He’s my dog. He’s the dog I was supposed to have from the start. And this time, no one can take him away.
I already know I’m gonna be obsessed. Like, full-on dog parent mode. Training, treats, spoiling him with belly rubs, probably crying over how cute he is. And don’t even get me started on how I’m gonna flex my Bestie pics all over Reddit.
Also, fun fact: My family is gonna lie to our apartment neighbors and tell them he cost ₹17,000. (Because apparently, "free" isn’t fancy enough for people.)
So yeah, after everything, I’m finally getting my dog. And I can’t wait.
Bestie is coming.
And this time, he’s staying.
If you read all this, I appreciate you. Now tell me—what’s a funny or emotional story about your pets? Also, if you have any first-time German Shepherd tips, drop them in the comments. I’m about to become a dog dad, and I need all the advice I can get.
