Watch out for the most vulnerable in your scene

I'm sure some of you like books, and I'm sure others just check Reddit regularly. Either way, you've probably heard about what shitty, monstrous people Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are.

What gets to me though is that they exploited transient vulnerable women. There's a lot of those folks in the punk scene. Hell, just speaking anecdotally, I have a bunch of crusties as friends online and FB started recommending me Amanda fucking Palmer as a friend.

These two are just famous examples, but every scene has its predators. The promoter or musician who is way older than the people they surround themselves with. Not saying judge a book by its cover, cuz plenty of decent older punks exist, but don't turn a blind eye when the alarm bells go off.

I've been fucked over by homeless punks before. Yes, some are terrible people. But they are also broke and in no position to exert power over most people. Watch out for your scenes. You don't gotta have a savior complex towards the lowest members of it, but be a decent human being and be suspicious of rich old assholes hanging out with poor kids a bit too much.
