Brother printer with Amazon replenishment.... creepy right?

I just bought a Brother printer, not realizing that it came with with the whole Amazon Replenishment system. This annoys me. And this whole program just creeps me out, and I have no intention of ever using it. First off, I use generic toner always.

I realize that the printer industry is a giant scam to get you to spend the bucks on the toner. Adding a mechanism so that corporate America decides when you refill? C'mon. To save me the "inconvenience" of going click click and ordering some more? I actually enjoy price comparison shipping for things like toner.... but I digress...

I enjoy my privacy when I can get it. This tech is just too invasive for my taste. My question is: what exactly is this creepy ass Amazon bloatware they have put into my printer do? Does Amazon get to monitor my home network now? Obviously I won't be signing in, but man. Creepy. I don't have Alexa devices. I don't need Bezos listening to my living room.

Should I send this thing back? Am I being overly paranoid?
