Should I work as an EMT overnight
I am going into my spring semester of freshman year and just want some advice about whether or not to go through with my job. About a month ago, I was hired at an ift ambulance service (unsure if ift is even a valid clinical experience please let me know if it is) and attended their orientation. From the looks of it, I will have to work one night a week 7pm-7am or one 24 hour shift every two weeks. I just have a few concerns about working there because this company is known for holding its employees past the end of their shifts for multiple hours, and so I believe that I may be held past shift and miss class, especially since I will have an hour commute each way (my classes begin at 9:30am everyday), and it is understaffed and so the employees are horrifically overwork even during nights (according to the reviews of former employees). I was wondering if its even worth going through with this job as I feel like I will fall behind my peers in terms of ecs if I don’t go through with this job. In my fall semester I did about 1 hour of clinical volunteering a week and in the spring semester I will do 2 hours of nonclinical volunteering a week as well. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.
