Artists that saw their eras through?
Call them eras or album cycles but a lot of musicians (especially pop musicians) like to promote their albums by releasing videos, performances and other promo materials that aesthetically compliment their new music. Bigger artists have entire campaigns planned but even then, how long an "era" will last depends on the success of the album and singles. So it's no wonder, for example, that we got a lot of videos and performances from Katy's Teenage Dream era. But sometimes for whatever reason (usually charts) artists completely abandon their vision for an era and maybe go on a tour if they have an established fanbase and call it a day.
But some artists decide to go through with their plans no matter the charts or critical success of their albums. I'm thinking Solar Power that gave us tons of great performances, a tour, and a bunch of videos and singles that were all released during major astronomical events. Videos are all cohesive, go with the theme of the album and reach their narrative conclusion with the last video.
Or Florence and the Machine with HBHBHB and "The Odyssey" series of videos that accompany the album. None of the songs were major hits but the videos are all there. Florence broke her leg and still promoted the album with performances on TV.
So what other eras were not abandoned in spite of everything? What eras were cut short and why?
