So what are people's thoughts on Hitmas 2024?
Before I give my opinion, I do want to know i will be giving constructive feedback, so if you disagree with my opinion, then that's fine, Access do need to hear the criticism as well as the praise. My criticism will be for the Hitmas structure and not on the hosts' performance or attitude.
I really liked the concept, I think the Christmas Maze was getting a bit stale/repetitive and with Ash gone it made sense to do something else. Slightly biased that Hitman is one of my favourite games and seeing more hitman content from Access was a pleasent surprise. It made sense for Rosie to play it since out of the three she knows the least. Doing a Suit Only, Silent Assassin (SASO) was a great end challenge. SASO is considered one of, if not, the big challenge of Hitman and Rosie did really well. Dave and Rob made sense to be handlers, they know the game and the mechanics, and to guide Rosie makes sense.
Now the negatives. The release window for this series wasn't the greatest, a bit nitpicky I agree, but maybe doing it before christmas would have made it more festive? It doesn't make sense for a christmas special to carry on past the new year in my opinion. Although I liked Dave and Rob as handlers, there was too many backseating and guiding, maybe going the 'Metal Gear Stupid' route would have worked better where Rosie plays through the Hitman 3 campaign and calls Rob and Dave on occasion would have made it more like Rosie is learning than the handholding route they did for this. The challenges were a bit mixed, assuming either Rob/Dave came up with the challenges theynknew what they were doing and them being there to guide instead of narrating was a mistake.
Will this be compared to Christmas Maze? No. I think it will be compared to Metal Gear Stupid or the OutsideXbox Hitman content they've done. And I think they did overall a decent attempt this year, and I prefered this over the last few Christmas Mazes. Great job Access.
