Kid (7yrs) plantar wart

Help please. We've been treating this with daily salicylic acid, betadine, and diluted ACV soaks for about 7 weeks now - we cut back the dead/rot looking bits and within a day or 2 it looks the same again. My DS (7y) hates having me debride it. It's been infected previously (the top cap came off and pus streamed out, gross) and I just don't know what to do. The doctor was no help, the pharmacist has been great for choosing dressings and encouragement. But I just don't know how much more of this merry go round my DS and I can manage.
