I am so distressed
I have been having this terrible swallowing issues since August. For me it's both food & liquids. It's kinda hard to describe what is happening when I try to swallow. It's like my tongue won't let the food pass to my throat. It's stoping the process I guess to stop me from choking. It did get better over weeks and I was able to drink without much issues and eat much better, although very slowly. I have to concentrate on every swallow to make sure it happens. Fast forward to new years. I ordered some Chinese food. I was in my last bite of chicken finger. I got up to throw my container away and wasn't paying attention to my swallowing. I kinda gagged a little on it and then swallowed it. Well apparently my brain said "oh, if we make her gag every time she swallows that will stop her from eating and drinking so we don't choke." So the next day I go to drink my coffee in the morning, I go to swallow and gag to the point that I spit it out. Tried again, same thing. Tried some eggs & toast, nope gagging. Everything I try to eat and drink I gag and can't swallow. The really weird thing is I can down a whole glass of water when I first wake up in the morning. Then once I'm up for a few minutes I'm back to gagging. I am really afraid that nobody is going to be able to help me with this. I've lost 15 lbs from lack of eating. I don't know what to do.
