Do you guys thinks its weird if a pharmacy staff remembers a patients name, even if they don't see them that much?

I'm a pharmacy student and I work part time at a very large chain drug store (so not a small, independant one). I've worked here for 3 years, and only work a 4 hour shift every week during the school year. During breaks, I work more as needed, sometimes full time hours and sometimes just a few extra shifts.

I've noticed that over time, I recognize some of the patients that come in (even though I'm not in much and most patients probably don't see me much in return either), or have been with us for a while. I definitely know their faces, and sometimes their names. It's truthfully not because I know their medications so well or because I am snooping around on file inappropriately, I just associate their names to their faces. It's not for every single patient I've ever seen either, just some.

Yesterday, I was working and a gentleman came in to pick up a prescription. He started by saying "pick up for Smith (obviously not his real last name for privacy reasons)", and I said "Bob, right?" (also not his real first name) because for some reason I just knew his name when he said his last name. He's not that frequent of a patient, and nothing about him makes him stand out with his looks or anything, he's also never done anything memorable ie causing a scene. Again, I just happened to remember his name when he said his last name.

He was definitely surprised that I knew him, and looked a bit concerned when he said "I'm surprised you know my name, is that a bad thing?" I was friendly and polite in my answer and we ended with a chuckle but after he left, I realized that he has a good point to be weirded out. He's seen me once or twice max, he's probably seen my coworkers much more, and it's also a healthcare setting, where privacy may be a concern. I'd also be surprised, maybe concerned or weirded out, if a girl that I rarely see at my own pharmacy knew my name when I'm not a frequent patient.

For the seasoned pharmacists/techs, what's your take on this situation? And for any patients lurking in this sub, how would you guys feel in this situation? Thanks!
