C2 Days supply question
Hi all!
Looking for some opinions about this situation.
I received an ERX on Friday for oxycodone 5 mg. It was for 360 tablets and the directions were 3 tablets every 4 hour, max daily 18 tabs. The MD entered the day supply as 30. Mathematically it should be 20.
Patient’s husband came in and was 10 days early. It’s my understanding that if a physicians enters a days supply that is what we are bound to adhere to even if the math isn’t correct. Luckily he has enough through the weekend. He told me they are administering ATC. Not sure if MD is aware of this.
Patient is totally legit and a regular at the pharmacy and is in end stage lung cancer. MD is a thoracic oncologist at one of the big name City cancer treatment hospitals. All precious RXs were written the same with days supply always 30. This is the first time they have been early for a fill.
Am planning to call MD office to see what we can do about this. Would it be advisable to request new ERX which updates days supply or would a verbal change be sufficient with proper documentation?
Thanks for your opinions!
