Is PoE -that- difficult for a casual player?

So I love ARPGs, looter shooters, loot grinds, etc., and I’m no stranger to delving into optimization systems.

PoE2 has piqued my interest, but I keep getting dissuaded by comments about it being too complex or not for the faint of heart. How true is this? Is it as simple or complex as you want it to be, or do you truly just hit a wall early on?
