I am overwhelmed by all the donation drives, I worry victims may be as well.

I have over 10 family members directly impacted and am seeing firsthand what is and isnt helpful for them.

They lost their cars and means of transportation, and are spread across the county. It is difficult to attend all these donation drives. I have seen nearly 20 going on today only. I went to one and it took a couple hours at that one alone sifting through items. It would be an all day thing to attend multiple. They have lots of competing priorities for their time, such as long term housing and insurance.

Anecdotally, they wanted around 5-10 articles of clothing of each type and then felt it was too much for now. They had limited storage for them and needed luggage and duffle bags badly, which seem to be limitedly available.

I hope these donation centers stay open across the next month or two so people can trickle in as they have the time and energy to do so, and the room for the items. It seems honestly overwhelming right now, but I am also happy seeing the community come together for them. I just hope it's not for a week.
