Eating before workouts
Hi there! At the same time I started working out with OTF, I also started eating better. I’m doing well, staying in my calorie range, all of that.
What I’m struggling with is what and when to eat before workouts. I usually do the late class and eat dinner after. Yesterday I ate an acai (unsweetened)bowl with nuts, seeds, peanut butter, and fruit for lunch. I just felt like the sugar from all the fruit was too much, there wasn’t enough protein, and it wasn’t the right thing to eat before a workout. But maybe it is! I have tried googling and struggled to find clear answers.
Today I did a 12pm workout and didn’t eat beforehand because I’m not a morning eater. I felt like I couldn’t go as hard. Do people who do the early morning classes eat beforehand?
What’s the optimal pre-workout day look like? Protein and carbs? At least half your daily calories? 2 hours of digestion time between food and workout? None of the above?
I’m not into protein shakes or caffeine, so trying to stick with food you chew haha.
Thank you!
