How to contribute to wikipedia (WEBSITE) development

yes, i want to contribute to website development as ui, to make it more modern, idk if it's possible or they will reject ur asking.
I saw a old post here in reddit about wikimedia, mediawiki which i dont understand and i just see projects no related to WIKIPEDIA WEBSITE, like kiwix, scribe etc.
