What if Greg was Chinese

What if the actor for Greg was the same, but the backstory for his character was that he was raised in Beijing by Chinese parents who adopted him, and he speaks English with a heavily inflected Mandarin accent. I’m thinking something along the lines of how that “Chinese Elon Musk” guy talks. How do you think this would’ve affected the show? Do you think Tom and Greg would’ve had a closer rerationship?
