[NB] Final Season: My Thoughts So Far.
- The Fair Plotline
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: it was the stupidest decision to make the first ten lessons about a RAD contest or fair—whatever it was. No one asked for it, and I’m sure the majority, if not all, hated it. This was my opinion before I even knew this was going to be the last season of the main story. I didn’t like it as a season plot to begin with, so imagine my shock when I found out it would close the main storyline. Seriously, who is making these decisions?!
I won’t go into much detail about the fair plotline because there’s honestly not much to say. In my opinion, it was boring and felt more like an event storyline than a main story.
- MC’s Role
I was initially excited for MC to return to the main timeline. Now, while we still don’t know for sure if it is the main timeline, the evidence in these lessons makes me assume it is.
The problem I have is how they handled MC’s return. They started talking about MC’s magic again, quite literally, in Lesson 55. Specifically, it focused on MC using magic without incantation. And they’re addressing this in the last five lessons? Why now?
Still, I was hyped… and guess what? As of Lesson 58, we’ve gotten nothing out of it. They wrapped it up by saying MC has “good relationships” and wants to protect the brothers. What’s frustrating is how they briefly mentioned that MC now has two pacts per brother but didn’t bother to explain what that actually does.
They could have avoided all the confusion by simply saying that, because MC traveled to the past and knows more about the brothers, their pact connections are now stronger. But no—they left it hanging and did nothing with it.
There’s still a little hope left, but realistically, I don’t expect much from the final two lessons.
- The Lack of Romance in an Otome Game
Other people have mentioned this, but I’ll say it too: I don’t like how this game continues to present itself as an otome game when there’s barely any romance in the main story. It’s so poorly done that I can’t even remember any standout romantic moments.
The problem seems to lie in the sheer number of characters. So many of them feel like they’re just there for the sake of it, and the writers (Solmare) can’t seem to give certain characters proper depth or exploration.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this season just feels underwhelming and rushed, which is disappointing for a “final” main story. I’m genuinely sad to see how Obey Me! has come to this.
