Is it worth it

My table is 63 inches by 32 inches, this is the set I'm looking at https://www.trainworld.com/kato-106-0021-n-ge-es44dc-gevo-and-mixed-freight-starter-set-csx-boxcar.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu-63BhC9ARIsAMMTLXR_I3SSzMKFU-7oguu0ZyuWTOTGvYc5FS8UiMgVl7QWKYPBGnpxKYkaAnXyEALw_wcB

Using the measurements, doing a basic loop would just about fit on the table, so is it normal to have the train on the outside and whatever else in the middle, is it even worth doing or will I only fit a couple of buildings, this will be my first ever layout so I don't have a mental image of building sizes. When I first imagined building a layout I thought I'd be in a bigger house and I'd build a small city, but after scrolling this subreddit everyday I feel I can't wait any longer to start working
