Key 37 Joy & Pain

So I had a credit at a on-line retailer that won’t be named… it’s been sitting there for almost a year so I decided to go ahead and use it on a key 37… mostly out of curiosity.

When it was delivered I bought it in all excited and my wife’s response was you bought another MPC lol. So I unboxed it and the first thing I noticed is that it was missing the power brick. Now considering this was supposed to be a new factory sealed unit this should have been the end of the story but it wasn’t. I took it out and honestly I was a little surprised. I was expecting something like the feel of a one and a mpk slapped together. I mean the one is the first mpc that felt like a plastic toy to me but the 37 actually feels a lot more solid. So I was excited. Powered it up, updated the firmware and loaded up some samples. Immediately noticed that hitting the main button triggered a sample. Also the several of the pads double trigger. Reset it and started over but the problem is still there.

I know I’m a bit of an MPC apologist. I mean as of now I currently have 7 of them and honestly I haven’t had many issues with any of them and I’ve been using them since like 97 so it looks like I had a good run but it has now come to an end. Had a couple days off for the holiday and was looking forward to playing with my new toy. Instead it’s boxed up and being sent back.
