I didn’t like Lady Bird (2017) that much. What’s the hype about?

I’ve heard so many things about Lady Bird, so I finally decided to watch it. I really didn’t find it that interesting or exciting. The entire plot was kind of all over the place in my opinion - the movie was 5 minutes from ending and I still didn’t understand what the “theme” was supposed to be. I felt like I was just watching the story of some girl’s mediocre life. There are SO many movies about parent/child relationship problems, or the main character choosing the popular kids over her best friend but eventually regretting it. What was so special about Lady Bird? I mean Timothee Chalamet is hot, but we already knew that.

Can someone please explain the hype to me?
